The 8 Color Trends You Don’t Want To Miss – F/W 2017
TrendreportsWhile the fashion industry never sleeps, it is fall and winter that really get fashion lovers going. The chilly fall wind brings in some much-needed change. Colorful leaves are serving as an inspiration for all people in the creative field and the amount of outfit combinations seems infinite. This year’s color trends are definitely going to brighten up winter and I am showing you the most important ones and how to make the runway trends fit your everyday style.
Red, red, red
Passion, energy and anger – no color is as multifaceted as red. Adventurous fashion addicts choose bold statement pieces such as oversized coats, a cozy midi-dress or a 70s style suit. For those who are less daring I suggest investing in a high quality pullover or a nice blouse, to bring some fresh colors into the office during the winter months.
Blue
Let’s admit it – every one of us is guilty of wearing navy pullovers, once the temperatures drop below zero. The cold temperatures and short days almost make us forget that there are so many other shades of blue. This year Pantone has introduced us to a new hue of our favorite color: Marina. I have to admit, that it is almost impossible to find garments in that particular shade :D, but let’s not use that as an excuse. There are so many other refreshing options.
Toffee and ocher:
Is there a better time to wear warm earth hues than in fall? A brown coat or jacket always looks amazing. Pairing toffee with your usual fall colors immediately gives an interesting twist to an otherwise boring outfit. Need some inspiration? Head over to Max Mara’s fall/winter fashion show.
Rosé
Rose is more versatile than you may think. Go for a colorful look and wear it with ocher or cobalt blue statement pieces. If you like to play it safe stick to accessories to add some color to your monochromatic winter looks. But whether you pair it with cool, androgynous office wear, or with a soft burgundy dress – you’ll definitely make the staff party’s best dressed list!
Grey
You think grey is boring and that you have already seen enough of it?! Think again! Look at the street style stars rocking oversized blazers – they know how to keep warm in fall!
Petrol
Is a classic that has often returned and definitely will come back in a few years. I really recommend investing in high quality basics that might last for a decade with proper care. Choose an elegant skirt (like this one from Hallhuber) to shine while unpacking your christmas presents.
Lime
Lime has been around a few times in the past decades, but it never had its break trough since so many people are afraid to wear it. If you are unsure about how to style that color buy some t-shirts and layer them underneath a navy or black cardigan.
Silver:
A color that has always represented wealth and stability, but is also associated with progress and the future (think of the 1960’s Star Trek interior). Designers showed silver Jackets (Chanel), sparkly boots (shown at Saint Laurent and Chanel) and satin dresses. Pair a sexy slip dress with heavy knits to stand out on New years eve. If you don’t want to invest much go for sparkly socks and neutral pumps or sandals.
Shop the trends:
Here a selection of online stores where you can shop the looks. My recommendations are not sponsored. I just love to shop and select outfits for others, so I hope this is helpful
Red: a beautiful jaquard dress ZARA, a statement coat Mango
Blue: cobalt blue pants ASOS, frost blue knit dress from Zalando, woollen coat Esprit
Toffee & ocher: elegant dress from United Colors of Benetton
Rose: corduroy dress Topshop
Grey: checkered dress Topshop
Petrol: culottes from ASOS
Lime: pullover from Marco Polo
Silver: jacket from H&M, booties from Humanic
What do you think?
As you can see, this year’s color trends are bright and fun. Do you think this color palette brings some much-needed change, or will you hide behind your trusty black cardigan? 😀 Let me know in the comments below!
